Senior School
Pathways
Year 10 – Year 12
In Senior School, we recognise the unique needs of students in their final years of Secondary education.
Home group teachers, Wellbeing and Pathways leaders support students with their social-emotional, academic, and pathways needs throughout their journey to Year 12.
There is a wide range of Leadership and extracurricular activities that students are encouraged to participate in. Hazel Glen College offers an annual performing arts production, House athletics and swimming carnivals, and students have enjoyed international camps to the USA and Cambodia.
Senior School students are given more choice and flexibility around their learning through a range of subjects and pathways. Students are supported and guided in developing a personalised approach to their learning; this allows them to gain the skills and knowledge to successfully complete Year 12 and transition to future education, training or work. In addition, students are guided by their home group teachers and careers advisors to make informed decisions around their future pathways.
Students choose from a wide range of traditional and contemporary subjects that will suit their interests and develop their skills for the future. The two certificated pathways through Senior School are the VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education) and VCAL (Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning). Both Pathways programs can be complemented with a VET (Vocational Education and Training) subject that gains an industry-related qualification chosen from a range of subjects.
