Hazel Glen College integrates technology throughout the curriculum to support and extend student learning. Devices are used to access class materials, access Compass, collaborate with peers, and submit work to teachers, all while strengthening learning outcomes and streamlining the school day.

While digital tools play an important role, they complement rather than replace traditional learning practices. Students still engage in written tasks, hands‑on activities, and face‑to‑face classroom discussions. Our focus is on using technology deliberately and purposefully, and only when it adds value to the learning experience. This balanced approach ensures students develop strong digital skills while maintaining the interpersonal and foundational skills that remain essential in education.

Students from Year 7 to Year 12 may select a device from the recommended list. A reliable device is a part of each student’s learning journey, and certain applications are required to support classroom activities. These tools help students complete assessments, construct texts, communicate effectively, and manage their learning independently. While students may opt to use an iPad, the College recommends that when a device is being selected for Secondary schooling, a laptop is the preferred option. This is due to its greater flexibility and compatibility with the full range of learning activities across the curriculum in secondary years.

The following core applications are provided at no cost to students:

• Microsoft 365 (Including the Office Suite)
• Google Workspace for Education
• Adobe Creative Cloud

Families are not required to purchase a device through the College, but there are competitive pricing options available via the link at the top if wish to explore them.
