Welcome back to Term 3. I hope that all of our students and parents have enjoyed their winter break and are returning to school re-energised and ready for our second semester.
This term, I will be deputising for Anthony Stockwell as Acting Principal as he will be supporting Epping Secondary College this term. I am excited to return to the Acting Principal role working with our fantastic students, teachers and families.
As we are at the midpoint of the year and returning after a two week break, I have asked teachers to give our students reminders about our important routines and rules. This includes arriving to school on time and being in class ready to learn, going to the toilet before class, bringing their correct equipment and having their digital device charged if necessary. A reminder that our uniform policy is on the website regarding which uniform items are required but a couple of reminders would be that during winter months, students should layer their uniform to keep warm and that Hoodies are not acceptable to wear over or under the College uniform. Rugby tops and the purple bonded jackets are the suggested layers for our PE uniform and jumpers and purple bonded jackets or blazers as suggested layers for the Year 7 -12 academic uniform. I have noticed our Year 6 students proudly wearing their commemorative jumpers this term and again this will be beneficial on cold days.
This term there are many key events coming up: We will have the 100 days of Prep to celebrate early this term. Then get planning for Book Week on the 21st of August as we ask the whole College to show a love of books and reading and dress as their favourite characters.
There are a number of camps in Primary Years with our Year 3 heading down to Philip Island, Year 4 to Lady Northcote and Year 5 students are off to explore the goldfields at Ballarat. I know that there are many very excited students getting ready for these experiences at camp with their friends.
Our Production, Mary Poppins will be on the 28th, 29th and 30th of August at Plenty Ranges Theatre in South Morang. Please look out for tickets as they will be on sale soon and it promises to be another great performance.
Year 9 students will be busy heading into the City for their excursions exploring the concepts of issues in the community as well as learning about the Koorie Heritage of Melbourne. They will also have the Crazy Good Tech Challenge incursion to look forward to.
Year 8, 9, 10 and 11 students will be involved in choosing elective subjects, or VCE, Vocational major or VET subjects in the next few weeks as the pathways and subject process gets underway. There will be a Careers Expo on Tuesday 30th July and parents are welcome to attend with students from 3 pm until 5 pm, with displays from many further education institutions.
Our House Performing Arts days will be at the end of term and are always great fun and an opportunity for students to get involved and perform or cheer on their friends. Parent Teacher Interviews will be on Thursday 19th September, followed by Footy Day, which will wrap up the term on Friday 20th of September.
I look forward to seeing you at many of the events and wish everyone an exciting term ahead.
