Welcome back to Term 4. I hope that all of our students and parents have enjoyed the spring holidays and are returning refreshed and revitalised for Term 4.
We had a very busy Term 3 and this term is going to be equally packed with activities and events for our students.
In two weeks time, we will farewell our Year 12 students as they finish classes and start to prepare for exams or head off onto their next journey of apprenticeships, work or further education. We wish them all the best and hope that they enjoy this special milestone in their educational journey and look forward to celebrating at their graduation night next month.
There are a number of incursions and excursions coming up in the Primary Years – our Prep students will be enjoying their Prep Breakfast and then later in the term will be visiting Bundoora Farm, and our Year 1 students are heading off this week to see all the animals at Melbourne Zoo. Year 3 will be undertaking their swimming program and then at the end of the year our will be our Years 4-6 Swimming Carnival.
Year 9 students will be back in the City on excursions this term as well as the second and final focus camp of the year in November where they get to celebrate their year and develop further teamwork skills with their teachers and home groups. City experience will include learning at Melbourne Zoo, the MCG, the National Sports Museum, the Holocaust Museum, and the Botanical Gardens.
Our Year 10 and 11 students will start to complete their current year of studies mid this term before their end-of-year exams and then the early start program where they spend two weeks stepping up into their subjects for next year.
On the 7th of November, we will be showcasing students’ Arts and Technology work from Kinder, Primary Years, and Secondary Years in our whole College Art and Technology Evening. This year it will include a celebration of our VCE students with the VCE Arts and Technology subject showcase.
I would like to share that Anthony Stockwell will be returning to the Principal position next Wednesday after his secondment and as such, I will be leaving the College to take up the position as Principal at Epping Secondary College. I will be very sad to leave Hazel Glen, having been here for 8 years and having helped the school grow in my initial role as Senior School Principal. I am proud of the development of Senior School as part of a brand new school that now offers so many subjects and pathway options that support all of our students to achieve their full potential and success. Over the past two years, and in the Acting Principal role, it has been a pleasure to lead the College from Kindergarten to Year 12 and thank all of the students, parents and College staff for their support during this time.
I wish everyone all the very best for term 4.
Neil Baillie
Acting College Principal
