Dear students, parents, staff and community,
As we wrap up another vibrant and inspiring term, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve shared over the past few months. It’s been a term filled with energy, creativity, achievement, and connection, and I couldn’t be prouder of our students, staff, and families.
Let’s begin with a standing ovation for our College Production – Rock of Ages. What a spectacular showcase of talent, teamwork, and passion! Our students lit up the stage and brought the house down with their performances, reminding us all of the power of the arts to unite and inspire. I want to acknowledge Steph William for directing this production with the support from many other dedicated staff across the College.
We celebrated NAIDOC Week with a beautiful afternoon tea, honouring the rich history, culture, and achievements of First Nations peoples. It was a moment of reflection and learning, and a celebration of community spirit.
In sport, several of our teams made it all the way to State level competitions, a testament to their dedication, skill, and sportsmanship. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and the way they represented Hazel Glen with pride.
We had many year levels out on camps this term. Our Year 4s ventured to Lady Northcote, and Year 5s explored Sovereign Hill, diving into history and adventure. Meanwhile, our Year 6s enjoyed the wonders of Phillip Island, and our Year 9 students went to Anglesea this week braving the cold condition to get a surf in. Each camp offered unforgettable experiences and personal growth for all the students who attended.
We marked the 100 Days of Prep, a great milestone for our youngest learners, filled with celebration and smiles in there dress up.
One of our showcase events in the Primary Years where our students dazzled us with their creativity, fun and laughter, is during the amazing House Performing Arts event a few days ago. It was great to see many family and friends in attendance supporting all the students.
We also hosted a successful Careers Expo, helping students explore future pathways, and celebrated Science Week and Book Week, igniting curiosity and imagination across all year levels.
Our commitment to wellbeing was front and centre during National Week Against Bullying and R U OK? Day, reminding us all of the importance of kindness, connection, and support.
The Year 10 Formal was a night to remember – elegant, fun, and a celebration of friendships and milestones. And we honoured our dads with a stunning Father’s Day Breakfast that was well attended by lots of students and dad and granddads.
To finish the term we had our Footy Day Dress Up, a celebration of coming together and staff and student culture.
As we look ahead, we welcome back our Year 12 students next term for their final few weeks. This is a crucial time as they complete final assignments and prepare for exams. I wish them all the very best over the coming weeks.
To our incredible parent community, thank you. Your support, encouragement, and involvement are the foundation of everything we do. Whether it’s helping with homework, attending events, volunteering your time, or simply being there with a kind word at drop-off or pick-up – your partnership makes a world of difference in your child’s education.
You are a vital part of the Hazel Glen family, and we are deeply grateful for the trust you place in us to guide and nurture your children. Together, we are building a strong, connected, and caring community.
To our staff, thank you for your unwavering commitment and care you give to all our students. To our families, thank you for your support and partnership. And to our students, thank you for being the heart of Hazel Glen College.
Have a safe and restful break, and we look forward to another exciting term ahead.
