Guidelines around our School Zone require us to adhere to the following enrolment criteria, in the order stated, for assessing applications:
The priority order of placement is now:
- students with a sibling at the same permanent address who is attending the school at the same time
- all other students in order of closeness of their home to the school
Students from outside the school zone will no longer be prioritised for enrolment based on curriculum grounds. Enrolment on compassionate grounds remains in the Placement Policy as an overarching consideration. For the placement policy, please visit this link.
Findmyschool.vic.gov.au hosts the most up-to-date information about Victorian school zones. Information on this site is updated in Term 1 each year, ready for the Year 6 to 7 transition period.

Enrolment Process
The Department of Education (DE) has a statewide Prep enrolment timeline.
The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Prep at a Victorian government primary school, including Hazel Glen College.

What You Need To Do
- Book a tour to learn more about our College and the enrolment application process or contact us at 9717 7500.
- Collect an Enrolment Information Pack (released Monday 20th April 2026) from the Primary Years Office, located on the corner of Painted Hills Road and Cookes Road or print off this form: Prep Enrolment Form.
- Submit your enrolment application by Friday 31st July 2026.
- Complete and return the Prep Enrolment Form from Monday 20th April 2026, along with all required documents: proof of residency documents are required for all enrolment applications.
- Enrolment offers will be made between Monday 3rd August and Friday 14th August 2026. If you recieve an enrolment offer, you will need to accept by Friday 28th August 2026.
- Enrolment applications submitted after Friday 31st July 2026 will be processed by the College in accordance with the Department of Education’s Placement Policy.
To provide prospective families with an understanding of what Prep looks like at Hazel Glen College, we have created some short videos covering wellbeing, curriculum, frequently asked questions and transitioning to school life. Our Prep leaders share their knowledge about the first year of school and how our Prep program ensures our students are set up for success and begin their journey of lifelong learning. Alongside these videos, our Primary Years Handbook includes a range of information ranging from uniform to the first day of school.

The Department of Education Year 6 – 7 Transitions: Application for Year 7 Placement forms are distributed by your child’s Primary School early in Term 2. These forms must be returned to the Primary School your child attends. On this form, you will nominate the Secondary School you would like your child to attend.

Our school follows the Department of Education’s Enrolment Policy for the enrolment, placement, and transfer of students.
Students who live within the school zone are guaranteed a place at our school. To find out whether you live in zone, visit findmyschool.vic.gov.au
All other applications will be considered subject to sufficient accommodation, and prioritised according to:
- Students with a sibling at the same permanent address who are attending the school at the same time
- All other students in order of closeness of their home to the school.
If you wish to enrol we ask that you read the Enrolment Form thoroughly before submitting the completed form together with all required supporting documents.
After reviewing your Enrolment Form, you will be contacted by the College Registrar, and if required, an interview will be arranged. The interview aims to help the College get to know your child, help to orient your family to Hazel Glen College, and allow you and your child to ask any questions.
